How to Read a Football Handicap on iCrown

Key Points

A football handicap is a goal start. iCrown prints the number beside the match, and that number changes what a 1-0 is worth.

People still type Icrown in the search bar. Older tabs may say Icrownplay. Same address, icrownplay.com. The line on your slip is the one that settles.

The favourite carries the minus. The underdog carries the plus. Minus takes goals off your side. Plus puts goals on. After the final whistle, the side that’s ahead is the side that covered.

  • Minus 0.5 needs a win. A draw loses the stake.
  • Plus 0.5 covers a win or a draw. Only a defeat loses it.
  • A whole number, such as minus 1, can send the stake back when the margin lands on it.
  • A quarter line, such as minus 0.75, splits the stake. A 1-0 can be a half win.
  • Minus 1.5 still loses on a one-goal win. Winning the match isn’t always enough.

What the number on the line means

This isn’t the winner row. Home, draw, away is a different market. Here you’re betting the margin after the start is applied.

Home minus 0.75 and away plus 0.75 are a pair. You take one. Taking both just pays the gap between the two prices.

Minus means your side gives goals

Minus is a hole your team has to climb out of. Minus 1 is like kicking off 0-1 down. They need to win by two clear goals for that bet to win outright.

A heavy favourite can win 1-0 and a minus 1.5 still loses. That’s the bit that catches people on a Saturday. The scoreboard says they won. The slip says they didn’t cover.

Plus means your side gets a start

Plus is goals your team is handed before a ball is kicked. Plus 1 is like starting 1-0 up. They can win, they can draw, and they can lose by one. A two-goal defeat is what beats a plus 1.

An underdog can lose 1-0 and a plus 1.5 still wins. The match loser and the handicap winner are allowed to be different sides. That’s the point of the line.

Full time stops at the final whistle

Normal time is the 90, plus the minutes the referee adds. A goal in the third minute of stoppage counts. It moves the margin the same way it moves the match result.

Cup ties carry on. Extra time and penalties stay off a normal handicap unless the market name says extra time. Picture a tie that’s 1-0 after 90 minutes, then 2-0 after extra time. The regular minus 0.5 already won at the first whistle. The regular minus 1.5 was still losing then, because the margin was one. The second goal arrived after that market had closed.

Settlement follows the official result and the rules that were up when the bet was accepted. Those rules sit on the terms and conditions. If this page and the slip disagree, the slip wins.

The three shapes on a Malaysian board

You’ll see a half line, a whole line, and a quarter line. They stack under each other on a phone. They don’t pay the same way.

Every 1.90 below is a classroom price. Tonight’s board will show its own number. The decimal on your slip is the one that pays, and the return includes your stake. If the board is showing Malay odds, or another style, read the possible return before you confirm. Don’t convert it in your head on the bus.

A half line such as 0.5

There’s no such thing as half a goal, so the score can’t land on 0.5. You win or you lose. Nothing comes back.

  • Minus 0.5 wins if your side wins by any score. 1-0 is enough. A draw loses.
  • Plus 0.5 wins if your side wins or draws. It loses only if they lose the match.
  • Minus 1.5 needs a win by two or more. A 1-0 looks fine and still loses.
  • Plus 1.5 wins if your side wins, draws, or loses by a single goal. A two-goal defeat loses it.

A whole line such as 1.0

A whole number can land exactly. When the margin matches it, that selection is a push. The stake comes back. You don’t win, and you don’t lose.

  • Minus 1 wins only if your side wins by two or more. A 1-0 is a push.
  • Plus 1 wins if your side wins or draws. A 0-1 loss is a push. A 0-2 loss takes the stake.

Level ball is the zero line

Level ball is the whole line at 0. Some people call it draw no bet. Your side has to win. A draw sends the stake back. A loss takes it.

It’s the cleanest whole line on the board. You get the winner, and you get the stake back if they draw. It still isn’t the 1X2. A draw on the winner row is its own result, and it pays. Level ball doesn’t pay you for the draw. It only returns what you put in.

A quarter line such as 0.75

A quarter line splits the stake in half. Minus 0.75 is half on minus 0.5 and half on minus 1. Plus 0.75 is half on plus 0.5 and half on plus 1. You didn’t place two slips. The book splits it for you.

Four things can happen.

  • Both halves win. You win the lot.
  • One half wins and the other pushes. That’s a half win.
  • One half pushes and the other loses. That’s a half loss.
  • Both halves lose. The stake is gone.

On minus 0.75, a one-goal win is the half-win case. The minus 0.5 half wins. The minus 1 half pushes, so that part of the stake comes back. A draw or a loss beats both halves.

On plus 0.75, losing by one goal is the half-loss case. The plus 0.5 half loses. The plus 1 half pushes. You get half the stake back, and you lose the other half.

Minus 0.25 works the same idea, one step lower. Half the stake sits on level ball. Half sits on minus 0.5. A win takes both. A draw pushes the level-ball half and loses the minus 0.5 half, so you lose half the stake. A defeat loses both.

What a 1-0 does to each line

Say your side wins 1-0. Same score. Five different slips.

Line on your sideWhat a 1-0 win does
Minus 0.5Full win
Minus 0.75Half win
Minus 1Push. The stake comes back
Minus 1.25Half loss
Minus 1.5Full loss

Minus 1.25 is half on minus 1 and half on minus 1.5. The one-goal win pushes the minus 1 and loses the minus 1.5. That’s why the row says half loss.

If your side loses 1-0, flip the sign. Plus 0.5 loses. Plus 0.75 is a half loss. Plus 1 pushes. Plus 1.25 is a half win. Plus 1.5 wins.

A draw is harsher on the minus side. Minus 0.5, minus 0.75, minus 1, and minus 1.5 all lose. Minus 0.25 is the odd one. Half the stake comes back, because the level-ball half pushes.

A worked slip in ringgit

RM20 at 1.90. On a full win the return is RM38, and that RM38 includes the RM20 you put in. Profit is RM18. Use the price on your own slip when you bet. This 1.90 is only here so the split is easy to see.

A full win

Your side is minus 0.5 and wins 1-0. The whole RM20 wins. You get RM38 back.

A half win

Your side is minus 0.75 and wins 1-0. The book splits RM20 into two RM10 pieces.

  • The minus 0.5 piece wins. RM10 at 1.90 returns RM19.
  • The minus 1 piece pushes. That RM10 comes back.

You get RM29 in total. Profit is RM9.

A half loss

Your side is plus 0.75 and loses 1-0.

  • The plus 0.5 piece loses. That RM10 is gone.
  • The plus 1 piece pushes. That RM10 comes back.

You get RM10 back. You lost RM10. Write that down before you tap. A half loss still hurts. It just hurts less than losing the lot.

Read the slip the way you read a transfer

Open the match on sports betting. Before you send, you should be able to say five things without looking back.

  • The match, including the kick-off in Malaysia time
  • The side you took, and whether the number is minus or plus
  • The exact line, not the one sitting under it
  • The odds on the slip, not the ones you saw ten minutes ago
  • The stake in ringgit, and the possible return

A late Premier League kick-off is still a real debit if you send it half-asleep. Convert the clock. If you won’t watch, a pre-match single is the calmer ticket. Live prices jump, and your stream can lag the book by a few seconds.

If the book asks you to accept a new price, that’s a fresh decision. Compare it with the number you wrote. Worse, and you no longer want it? Cancel.

Screenshot the accepted slip. History should show the same stake. If nothing was accepted, the stake should still be in the wallet. Don’t fire a second one as a guess.

Handicap is not the winner row

The winner row has three results. Home, draw, away. The handicap folds the draw into the line, or knocks it out, depending on the number. Your side can win the match and still lose the slip.

Totals are a different question

Over 2.5 is about how many goals land, not who covers a start. A 1-0 can win a minus 0.5 and lose an over 2.5 in the same match. Read the market name. If it says handicap, it’s the margin. If it says over or under, it’s the goal count.

A live price is a new decision

The line can move after a chance, a goal, or a red card. The number you liked at 0-0 may not be the number on screen at 1-0. If you still want it, send it. If you only wanted the old one, leave it.

Cousin lines sit too close on a phone

Minus 0.5 and minus 0.75 are neighbours. On a small screen they look like the same bet. They’re not. Shade the phone. Confirm the sign and the number twice. A thumb onto the row below is still your money.

When a bonus is already on the account

A handicap slip and a bonus don’t automatically go together. Open promotions after you log in. Copy the name, the minimum odds, and the markets it allows. A casino extra often leaves the sportsbook out.

Which extra can sit on a slip, and which one stays on the reels, is already on which iCrown bonus counts on a sports slip. Read that before you try to clear a reel extra with a football ticket.

If the sheet is silent on handicap, don’t guess. Skip the extra and stake your own ringgit, or pick a market the sheet actually names.

Questions people ask before kick-off

Is the handicap the same as picking the winner

No. Picking the winner is the home, draw, or away row. The handicap is the margin after the start is added. Your side can win 1-0 and still lose a minus 1.5.

What does a push return

The stake. Not a profit. On a whole line, when the margin lands exactly on the number, the book sends the stake back. A half line can’t push. A match can’t finish on half a goal.

Does extra time count on a normal line

Not unless the market name says extra time. The regular line stops at the end of normal time, and stoppage is included. A goal in extra time doesn’t repair a minus 1.5 that was already losing at 90 minutes.

Which side is the home number attached to

The side printed next to it. Home minus 0.5 is the home side giving half a goal. You can’t slide that number onto the away side because you prefer them. If you want the away side on that same line, you take away plus 0.5.

Can both sides of one line win

No. They’re opposites. If minus 0.5 wins, plus 0.5 on that same line loses. If a whole line pushes, both sides get the stake back. Nobody gets paid twice.

Do esports lines work the same way

They don’t. A map line on esports betting is about maps or rounds, not football goals. A football minus 0.5 doesn’t explain a Dota price. Open that board on its own and read the market text there.
